Ok so I finally broke down and joined a gym because this Illinois weather was not conducive to running outdoors at least not for a new runner. Ha! I am calling myself a runner that is funny because as of right now I can only run for 3-4 minutes straight without dying. So really I am a walker who is attempting to run in spurts while walking. Regardless, learning to run outside in this weather was not working for me. So off to the gym I go to walk/run, do yoga and pilates and try to get this very out of shape body into shape to run. Hopefully it will work in time to race in June.
And for the record every muscle in my body hurts. However my abs and my ass hurt the most. Just saying
Hmmm.. for some reason, I could not post on the previous post but I can on this. I'm glad you've found some motivation and are developing a plan! Once you get into a schedule, you'll find it easier and easier to maintain. I'm starting to think about my post-partum work out plan. On the one hand, I am excited to start running again, but I am also nervous since I will be so out of shape. Like you, I think picking a race is key to motivating myself and staying on track ('scuse the pun), so I am going to find one in the summer or early fall to sign up for. Dread the hot weather though!
